INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS’ DAY

Last December 10th, AE Cerco do Porto came together to celebrate International Human Rights’ Day with an event that focused on raising awareness about critical global issues. The event featured two lectures for our 9th and 12th-grade students.
The first speaker, Joana Lourenço from AEPN – European Anti-Poverty Network, shared valuable insights on the importance of inclusion, encouraging students to reflect on the rights of marginalized communities and the importance of standing up for equality.

Leonardo Oliveira, a clinical psychologist specialized in youth, led a discussion on mental health and its connection to human rights. His speech highlighted the need to prioritize mental well-being as an essential part of every individual’s fundamental rights.

The event also touched the topic of migration flows, shedding light on the challenges faced by refugees and displaced people worldwide, emphasizing the significance of understanding and supporting the journeys of those seeking safety and a better life.

Through these engaging and thought-provoking sessions, our students gained a deeper understanding of the issues that shape the world around them.
Together, we can work towards creating a more inclusive, empathetic, and fair future.
